NLAS EOIM´s ambition is to...
...encourage a gesture of gratefulness towards the children of the communities surfers visit. We believe that one way of showing appreciation towards communities surfers visit is to offer to their children and youth the cheapest life insurance around: a Safety Reflector. As a universal tool, Safety Reflectors can be used by children all around the world and help prevent collisions between pedestrians and vehicles at dark. Our aim is humble, yet realistic and thus we believe that, in a methodological way, surfers can contribute to help prevent collisions between young pedestrians and motorized vehicles at dark. NLAS EOIM´s primary role is to collect Safety Reflectors, find couriers among surfers, coordinate logistics and make sure that the Reflectors reach the children at destination. Please note that the only expected expense as a participant is the valuable time and energy that you’ll put into this project.
WHAT IS A SAFETY REFLECTOR?
A safety reflector is intended for pedestrians. A safety reflector is similar to reflective stripes that can be found on safety vests and clothing worn by road workers and rescue workers. A safety reflector helps to make a person visible to vehicles on the road up to three times further away than without a reflector, since it reflects light from headlights of an oncoming vehicle. The safety reflector is a stand-alone device that can be attached to any article of clothing as needed, often using a safety pin and some string. Safety reflectors come in different shapes, colors and materials.
